Shirley Joan Gatchell

SOUTH BEND - Shirley Joan Gatchell, 73, passed away in her home after an illness. Shirley was born on April 21, 1934, in Decatur, IL, as the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (Cline) Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents.

On April 23, 1955, in Chicago, IL, as the former Shirley Wilson, she married Robert W. Gatchell, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Mike Gatchell, Dave (Kim) Gatchell, Shari (Tim) Fye and Pamela (Scott) Getz, all of South Bend; and eight grandchildren, Jeremy Fye, Danny Fye, Brittani Gatchell, Stephanie Gatchell, Cody Gatchell, Ciara Getz, Morgan, Getz and Ashley Getz. She was a member of American Turners, Turners of Michiana, 4-H Booster of St. Joseph County and the USBC (United States Bowling Congress). Shirley was a great woman, always loving and caring, and always fun to be around.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, February 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Friday, February 29, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Paul Doyle, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to Turners of Michiana, 2720 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615; or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
