Jurisa M. Garwood

July 28, 1891 – November 5, 1989

Jurisa M. Garwood, 98, of Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, formerly of South Bend, died at 9pm Sunday in the nursing home.

Mrs. Garwood was born July 28, 1891, in St Joseph County and was a lifelong area resident.  In 1912, in South Bend, as Jurisa Nittrouer, she married George “Clem” Garwood.  He died in 1970.  She is survived by two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.  She was a member of the First Brethren Church.

Services will be at 11am Wednesday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St.  Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and to 9pm Tuesday in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Brethren Church
