Ruth M. Gartee, 66, of Oakside Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Sunday, March 30, in Tucson, Ariz.

Ruth was born on Dec. 21, 1931, in Munster, Ind., to Eber and Lula (Russell) Stringham.

On May 20, 1977, in Niles, Mich., she married Eugene J. Gartee, who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1995.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Bob (Carol) Wallace of Elkhart, Ind. and Mike Wallace of Mishawaka; two stepsons, Donald Gartee of Mishawaka and Randy (Linda) Gartee of Florida; a daughter, Marcia Wallace of Mishawaka; a brother, Paul (Mary) Stringham of Kentucky; one sister, Helen Malloy of Michigan; and by 10 grandchildren, Lisa Wallace, Tina Wallace, Amanda Wallace, Jackie Hesch, Michael Wallace, Loren Isaac, Daniel Gartee, Michael Gartee, Stephen Gartee and Dawn Roberts.

Ruth worked for Sears as a payroll clerk. She retired in September 1991. She also attended the Church of God in Mishawaka.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind.  Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association or to the Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County.
