MISHAWAKA - Major Mary Katherine Garrison, 75, passed away Friday, September 5, 2008, at Tender Loving Care Nursing Home, South Bend. Mary was born on February 18, 1933, to the late Samuel O. and Rosella (Wiseman) Garrison. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip O. and Walter B. Garrison; one nephew; and one great niece. Mary is survived by two brothers, Harold (Wilma) Garrison and Melvin (June) Garrison, both of Mishawaka. She also survived by 18 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. Mary graduated from Mishawaka High School, class of 1951. She went to Bethel College for a short time before joining the Salvation Army. She graduated from the Salvation Army Ministry School in Chicago in 1956. During her career in the Salvation Army, she worked in many aspects, including dietician and bookkeeper. She was also in charge of the Home League Ladies. In her personal time, she enjoyed traveling worldwide and her dogs.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2008, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2008, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
