Guy Gardner Sr.

NEW CARLISLE - Guy Gardner Sr., 93, of Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, died Friday in the nursing home. Mr. Gardner was a former grocery store owner and postmaster in Bowring, Okla. He was born Feb. 22, 1900, in Lowry City, Mo., and lived in New Carlisle since 1990. On Feb. 4, 1926, in Iowa, he married Bertha Cooper. She died July 1, 1984. He is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Stamper of Luther, Okla.; two sons, Guy Jr. of South Bend and Marvin of Gravois Mills, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nellie Tanner and Anna McClurg, both of Claremore, Okla.; and three brothers, Kenneth of Claremore, Woodrow of Tulsa, Okla., and Howard of Kimberly, Ind. A son, Robert, died in 1971.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Chapel, Claremore. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Claremore.
