John C. Garboden

GRANGER - John C. Garboden, 65, of Granger, died on Sunday,
December 21, 2008, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center,
South Bend.
He was born in Mishawaka on January 9, 1943,
to Glen and Irma (Coussens) Garboden, who preceded him in death.
John married the former Kathleen M. Thau in South Bend on April
20, 1968. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; a daughter, Sarah
Garboden of Mooresville, N.C.; a son, Christopher (Jean) Garboden
of Loveland, Ohio; three grandchildren, Erica, Jack and Mitchell.
John is also survived by a brother, George Garboden of
California, a sister-in-law, Jacki Thau of Portland, Oregon, and
numerous cousins.
John had worked in the tire industry and
farmed for the Coussens family. He was a 1961 graduate of St.
Joseph High School. He was a member of American Legion Post #151.
He was honorably discharged from the Army following 20 years of
service. John enjoyed life, his children and grandchildren, and
traveling. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and a Notre Dame and
Indianapolis Colts football fan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Pius X Catholic Church on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m., with visitation starting at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Pius X Catholic Church Building Fund or to the St. Joseph High School Athletic Department.
