SOUTH BEND - Henry F. "Hank" Ganus, 83, passed
away on Monday, Aug. 11th, in the Saint Joseph Medical Center,
South Bend. Henry was born on January 4, 1925, in South Bend, to
the late George and Gladys (Mejer) Ganus. On February 7,
1948, in South Bend, he married Marge (Werwas), who
preceded him in death on November 15, 2000. He was also preceded
in death by his great-grandson, Lance Zalas, and by his
brothers, Alex and Louis Ganus. He is survived by his three
children, Mary Ann Clark of South Bend, Ron (Gayle) Ganus
of South Bend and Michael (Debra) Ganus of Granger; seven
grandchildren, Shannon (Todd) Klimek of Mason, OH, Ryan
Clark of South Bend, Brenda (Christopher) Rajski of South
Bend, Tom Ganus of South Bend, Karen (Brandon) Zalas of South
Bend, Kristi Ganus of South Bend and Laura Ganus of Denver, CO;
great-grandchildren, Tyler, Allie, Drew and Rylee Ganus, Jenna Laughman,
Alix and Evin Bice, all of South Bend, and Adam, Noah and
Connor Klimek of Mason, OH; and by his brother, Joseph Ganus of
South Bend. Hank was a member of the P.N.A. #83, St. Joseph Club,
Knights of Columbus 5570 3rd Degree, American Legion #357, St.
Adalbert Catholic Church, St. Joseph and Mishawaka Homing Pigeon
Club, Harvest House St. Adalbert Club, and UAW #5. He had worked
for Studebaker and retired from Bendix in 1982.
Visitation will be today, Aug. 13, from 4 to
8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South
Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 14th, at 10
a.m. in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St.
Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. The family has requested that,
instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Center
for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South
Bend, IN 46637.
