SOUTH BEND - Pauline A. Gallas, 83, of St. Paul's Health Care Center, formerly of 825 E. Angela Blvd., died at 9:16 a.m. Saturday in the care center. Mrs. Gallas retired in 1975 from Philips Industries, Elkhart, after eight years of service. She was born July 8, 1910, in Ukraine, and moved to South Bend in 1931 from Hamtramck, Mich.

On Nov. 19, 1931, at Notre Dame, she married John F. Gallas. He died Feb. 6, 1992. Surviving are three daughters, Gertrude (Sister Kathleen) Gallas, OSR, of Cullman, Ala., Jeanette ``Jan'' Kuehn of Ballwin, Mo., and Theresa McGinnis of Marlboro, Mass; a son, George J. of Chelsea, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Notre Dame.

Services are being arranged at McGann Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
