MISHAWAKA - Richard L. "Dick" Gale, 71, of
Mishawaka, left us at 8:40 a.m. peacefully meeting his Lord on
Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in his residence with his loving family at
his side. Dick was born on March 31, 1937, in Grand Rapids,
Michigan, to Harry M. and Bessie M. (Hall) Gale. Both of
his parents preceded him in death.
Dick married the former Barbara M. Gorski,
the love of his life, in Alpena, Michigan, on October 11, 1958,
in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Dick and Barbara shared 49 years
and seven months of love and commitment to each other. Dick was
Barb's KISA (Knight In Shining Armor). They laughed together all
the time with their children and grandchildren. Surviving are his
wife, Barbara, and their four children, Rick and Laura (Zhaner)
Gale of Mishawaka, Michelle Lavengood of Mishawaka, Jon Gale of
Los Angeles, CA, Stephanie and Bradley Huff of Newland,
NC. Dick was also a loving grandfather to his five grandchildren,
Sarah, Rebecca and Josh Lavengood, Daniel and Brandon
Huff. He also is survived by his much loved sister, Patricia
(Richard) Palma of Grand Rapids, MI, and his loyal dog,
Dominique. Three brothers, Harry, Don and Chuck, and two sisters,
Evelyn and Betty, preceded Dick in death. Dick was a salesman by
profession. He never met a person he couldn't talk to, especially
about his beloved Michigan sports. He was an insurance salesman
for 40 years, was active in his church and with all his kids'
sports. He will be missed by all his family, including many
nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Dr. Jenkins and
all the staff at Hospice for their caring and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to St. Monica Catholic Church or to Hospice of St.
Joseph County. Rest now with the Lord, our most beloved husband,
father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Friends may visit with
the family today, May 15, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8
p.m., with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. The Rite of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St.
Monica Catholic Church, with Fr. Jeffery Largent officiating.
There will be visitation in the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
