SOUTH BEND - Paul W. Futa Sr., 80, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on
Sunday, August 8, 2010, in his residence. Paul was born on May 4,
1930, in North Liberty, to the late Roman and Felicia (Sokola)
Futa. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Futa,
on October 29, 1987. On February 20, 1954, he married Janet
(Zarobinski) in South Bend, who survives along with their
children, Paul (Kathy) Futa Jr. of North Liberty, Marlene (Keith)
Werwas of New Carlisle, IN, and Gale (Herman) Brinkhoff of North
Liberty; six grandchildren, Amy (James) Houser, Andy (Julie)
Brinkhoff, Melanie (Dale) Groves, Keith (Mollie) Werwas, Steven
(Kari) Futa and Stephanie (Luke) Carter; 10 great-grandchildren;
many nieces and nephews; and by his best friend, Ben Stopczynski.
Paul retired from Bendix (Honeywell) after 30 years. He honorably
served his country in the United States Army during the Korean
War where he received military honors. He was a member of
VFW
#1954. He loved music, and was the leader of the "Paul Futa
Family Affair." Paul enjoyed farming, woodworking, fishing,
traveling and Polka Fests. He loved spending time with his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from
2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in the ST.
JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a prayer
service will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010, in
Holy Family Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph
Cemetery, South Bend. Family would like to extend a Special
Thanks to the Center for Hospice and Memorial Hospital for
all their wonderful assistance. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111
Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to St. Patrick
Catholic Church, 807 Tyler St., Walkerton, IN 46574. For those
who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the
