SOUTH BEND - Robert K. Furlong Jr., 20, of South Bend, passed
into the loving arms of our Lord on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at
5:30 a.m. in his home. Rob "Robbie" was born in South
Bend on July 7, 1990, to Robert K. Sr. and Kim Furlong, and had
remained a lifelong resident in South Bend. He was currently
preparing to enter his sophomore year at Indiana University at
South Bend. Rob was a 2009 graduate of St. Joseph High School
after completing Holy Cross Grade School. Along with Rob's
parents, he is survived by his older sister, Emily and Hewitt
Hall of Monroe, LA; two younger brothers, Evan G. and Cole R.
Furlong, both at home; paternal grandparents, Keen A. and Dorothy
J. Furlong of South Bend; and maternal grandparents, Lawrence and
Patricia Kubiak of Granger; as well as many aunts, uncles and
cousins. Robbie deeply loved his family, friends and his music.
His compassion, caring, sense of humor and love for all his
family and friends will be missed by all beyond compare. We would
like to thank all the emergency personnel from the Clay Fire and
Rescue Department and St. Joseph County Police Officers Jozates
and Albright for their heroic efforts. Thank you all for doing
what you do to help so many people. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Holy Cross
Catholic Church, 1020 Wilber Street, South Bend. Graveside
services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South
Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 3-8 p.m. on Monday,
August 2nd, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131
Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be said at 5 p.m.
