Janelle S. Fulmer

March 10, 1972 - Sept. 1, 2002

Janelle Suzanne Fulmer, 30, of Lindenhurst, Ill., (formerly of Granger, Ind.) went to her heavenly home on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 1, in her Linden-hurst home as a result of cancer.

Janelle was born on March 10, 1972, in South Bend, Ind., and was the daughter of Richard J. and Barbara J. (Keller) Fulmer of Granger.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John W. Fulmer; maternal grandmother, Mary Babich-Keller; paternal grandmothers, Mary Vernell Fulmer and step-grandmother, Virginia Fulmer; aunt, Deborah Keller; great-uncle, DeVon Fulmer; and by her beagle terrier dog, Crystal.

Janelle is survived by her parents, Richard J. and Barbara J. (Keller) Fulmer of Granger; and by her brother, Jonathan R. (Miranda) Fulmer of Osceola, Ind.

Janelle was a 1990 graduate of Penn High School, Mishawaka, Ind., where she was a member of the speech and debate club for three years, and was also a member of the quiz bowl team. She sang in the all-girl choir, did gymnastics and baton twirling. She was also a 10-year 4-H member of St. Joseph County (Harris Township Club). She did projects in greenware with several state fair entries, a reserve grand championship over all and many division champion ribbons. She also did crocheting projects, sewing, gardening, wood-working, and junior leaders. After high school, she became a 4-H leader in Harris Township for greenware for three years.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Mishawaka, but when she was in Illinois she attended church at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hillsdale, Ill.

In 1994 she graduated from Davenport University, Granger, with an associate's degree in travel and tourism.

Janelle was an international flight attendant and had worked for several airlines including World Airways, United Express, ATA, and United Airlines for the past six years.

She loved to fly and travel, and her job enabled her to see and visit many beautiful places all over God's beautiful world. Some of those places were Hawaii, Alaska, Paris, Germany, Spain, Brazil and Jamaica, as well as many popular cities all over the United State. Some of the VIPs she's encountered were Charleston Heston, Will Smith, Jay Leno, Bo Derek, Harrison Ford and Red Skelton.

She is also survived by a maternal grandmother, Jane M. Keller of Osceola; a maternal grandfather, Jerome R. Keller of Mishawaka; and paternal step-grandmother, Yvonne Fulmer of South Bend; a special great-aunt and great-uncle, Barbara and Roger Nelson of Milwaukee, Wis.; special great-aunts, Elizabeth Hirsh of Mesa, Ariz., Birdie Berger of Elkhart, Ind., and Renee' Fulmer of Goshen, Ind.; a special aunt and uncle, Barbara and James Hiner of Osceola; her godparents, Sandy and John Ellis of Mishawaka; special cousins, Rev. Patrick and Kristin McKenzie and sons, Sean, Kyle and Ryan of West Chester, Ill., Jennifer L. Keller of Loveland, Ohio, Christy and Rob Hall of Indianapolis, Ind., Debbie Lovell of Mishawaka, Randy and Joanne Hirsh of Elkhart; and by maternal uncles, James C. Keller of South Bend and Jerome Keller Jr. of Mishawaka.

A visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2317 S. Wolfe Road (at Cermak Road), Hillsdale, IL 60126. At 4 p.m. a celebration of life service will be held for Janelle.

From 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 9, there will be a time of remembrance held in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, corner of Hickory and Cleveland Roads, followed by committal services in the chapel at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

All your family, co-workers, and many friends from all over will greatly miss your beautiful smile, phone calls and e-mails. Our Basset dog "Betsy," with whom you had a special bond, will miss your singing and playing with her. We pray your new wings in Heaven, as one of God's Angels, keep you flying. You're in our hearts forever.
