LAKEVILLE - Charles F. ''Fritz'' Fuchs, 78, residing on Osborne Road, Lakeville, Ind., passed away following a brief illness at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, in his home. Mr. Fuchs was retired in 1982 from the Allied Signal brake department following 31 years of service. He was born on March 17, 1919, in Lakeville, to the late Charles Edward and Anna Oldean (Barkley) Fuchs, and had lived here all of his life. He was also preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
On Jan. 27, 1951, in Hobart, Ind., he married Nilah M. Hodson, who survives. He is survived by two daughters, Luana Reed of Lakeville and Sharon McHenry-Brown of Weatherford, Texas; a son, William D. McHenry of Lufkin, Texas; eight grandchildren, Chad R. Reed of Wyatt, Ind., Brea Jo Schelstaete of South Bend, Ind., Julie Tepe, Tammy Jo Willmon, Jennifer Becker, Patrick Brown, Billy and Kris McHenry, all of Texas; and by six great-grandchildren, Jessica and Ashley Tepe, Jennah and Haley Becker, Marisa Willmon and Tyler McHenry, all of Texas. He was anticipating the arrival of his seventh great-grandchild in June, Cooper Charles Reed. He is also survived by a sister, Alice Grimes of South Bend; and by four brothers, John Fuchs and Ross Fuchs, both of Bremen, Ind., Bobbie Fuchs of Lakeville and Jack Fuchs of South Bend.
Mr. Fuchs was a life member of the Lakeville Conservation Club, was a member of American Legion Post 363, Lakeville, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Some of his favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, and gardening. He enjoyed sharing his produce with others.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Rev. Jim Gillette will officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home.
