MISHAWAKA - Stefanos "Steve" Ftergiotis, 48, of
Mishawaka, passed away December 21, 2008, in his home after a
courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Pantelis
Ftergiotis, who preceded him in death, and Kyriaki Katirtzoglou
Ftergiotis, who survives in Edessa, Greece. Steve is also
survived by his wife, Maria; children, Millie, Teresa, Pantelis
and Nicholas Ftergiotis, all of Mishawaka; and a brother,
Dimitris Ftergiotis of Edessa, Greece. Steve was a longtime
owner/operator of two King Gyros in the Michiana area. He was
born and raised in Edessa, Greece, where many family members
remain today. He came to the United States for schooling in 1979
and stayed for business.
Visitation will be held today from 4-7 p.m. with services immediately following in the McGann Hay, Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off Cherry Road), where there will be a service conducted at 7 p.m. by Fr. George and the people of St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will take place in Greece. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local Wells Fargo Bank, where a fund for the children will be set up, or donations may go to Cub Scouts Pack 110.
