SOUTH BEND Esther M. Fredley,
96, of 17475 Dugdale Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away after
an extended illness at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the
Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Fredley was born
on Dec. 6, 1904, in South Bend, and was a lifetime resident of
the Michiana area.
On Jan. 9, 1983, in Phoenix, Ariz., she
married Tom Fredley, who passed away in 1990. Esther was a
homemaker, and was a very warm and thoughtful person who never
knew a stranger. Mrs. Fredley is survived by two grandsons,
Dennis (Betsy) Stalker of Tokyo, Japan, and Brian (Sandi)
Stalker of South Bend; and by a great-granddaughter, Devin Chang
Stalker of Tokyo. Mrs. Fredley was loved and cherished by her
grandsons and great-granddaughter, who she loved and cherished as
well. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Their will be no visitation or services at
this time. Esther wanted her body donated to the Anatomical
Education Program of the Indiana University School of Medicine,
Department of Anatomy. Esther's feelings were you can always help
educate future doctors, dentist and health science professionals.
The family of Mrs. Fredley wishes, in lieu
of flowers, that all memorial contributions be made to the
Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church or to the Green Township
Lions Club. A service in memory of Esther M. Fredley will be held
at a later date. The HANLEY and Sons "Southwest Chapel"
Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South
Bend, handled arrangements and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
family.
