SOUTH BEND - Frances Latona Franson,
74, of Caroline Street, died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's
Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Franson was born Feb. 1,
1920, in Rensselaer, and had lived in South Bend since 1965,
coming from Michigan City.
On Sept. 10, 1939, in Remington, Ind., as
Frances L. Daniels, she married Arthur Louis Franson. He
survives with two daughters, Christine M. Chmielewski of
South Bend and Karen L. Lowler of Blythewood, S.C.; two
sons, Eric J. of Indianapolis and Edward C. of LaPorte; 16
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey J. Montoya
of Beecher, Ill.; and a brother, John M. Beauregard of Oak
Forest, Ill. She was active in Girl Scouts of America as a
leader, camp director and district leader trainer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in
Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in
Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in
the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
