Frank A. Fotia, 82, of South 25th Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a lengthy illness at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in his residence.
Frank was born on June 13, 1918, in South Amboy, N.J., to the late Anthony and Mary (DeMark) Fotia. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Perri; and by two brothers, Joseph and Dominick Fotia.
Frank moved to Mishawaka, Ind., in 1923 and, on Oct. 10, 1981, in South Bend, married the former Cathy Cain, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Marie Grace Fotia; and a son, Francisco Christopher Fotia, both at home; two sisters, Betty Wullaert and Rose Zappia, both of Mishawaka; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank was co-owner of Fotia Supermarket in Mishawaka and was manager of Alex Shoe Hospital for 33 years. He was a World War II veteran of the Pacific Theater, a Democratic Precinct Committeeman for 14 years, a member of the St. Anthony Holy Name Society, the DiLoreto Club of Mishawaka, and was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South Bend.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 20, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
Editor: He originally married Anna Margaret DeBlase on Aug. 6, 1949 in St. Joseph County IN. She died on Sept. 23, 1980.
