Dominick A. Fotia, 85, of Locust Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a lengthy illness at 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, in his residence.
Dominick was born on Oct. 10, 1914, in Anderson, Ind., to the late Anthony and Mary (DeMark) Fotia. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Perri; and by a brother, Joseph Fotia.
Dominick moved to Mishawaka in 1923 and, on April 20, 1940, in St. Monica Church, Mishawaka, married the former Elizabeth Nunneri, who survives. He is also survived by five daughters, Mary (Paul) Pignone, Frances Carpenter, Betty (Mike) McGann and Toni (Tom) Ford, all of Mishawaka, and Donna (Brian) Harker of Granger, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Wullaert and Rose Zappia, both of Mishawaka; and by a brother, Frank Fotia of South Bend.
Dominick owned and operated the Fotia Supermarket in Mishawaka from 1940 to 1982. He had also been employed at Ball Band, Studebaker's and the Wheelabrator-Frye Corporation, and by the City of Mishawaka. He was one of the founders of the DiLoreto Club in Mishawaka, was a former precinct committeeman, and was a member of St. Monica Church.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 26, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, in St. Monica Church. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
