John A. Forte

July 29, 1911 - July 13, 2001

John A. Forte, 89, of Lowell Wood West, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 9:03 a.m. Friday, July 13, in Saint Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.

John was born on July 29, 1911, in Clinton, Ind., to Joseph and Mary (Civolotti) Forte, who both have preceded him in death. John was also preceded by one sister, Teresa Forte Nyers; and by one brother, Angelo Forte. On June 20, 1935, in Mishawaka, John married Marie Van Hoedt. Marie passed away on Sept. 3, 1991.

He was the owner and operator of Forte Grocery from 1945 until 1975. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1878, and the F.O.P.

John is survived by one daughter, Rosetta (Rocky) Ferraro of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Julie (Rod) Petersen, Christopher Ferraro and Mary A. Ferraro; three great-grandchildren, Jamie Petersen, Erin Petersen and Brian Petersen; one sister, Jennie (Andrew) Casper of Niles, Mich.; and by one brother, Joseph (Jean) Forte of Mishawaka.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 15, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 16, in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 West Mishawaka Avenue, Mishawaka. Father Michael J. Murphy, C.S.C., will officiate the service with burial.
