Services for Hertha Elise Forslund,
89, who died Saturday in Regency Place, will be at 11 a.m. on T
hursday, Nov. 29, with calling one hour before the service at
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 225 E. Haney Ave. Rev. Denise M.
Grant, pastor, will officiate and burial will follow at Riverview
Cemetery. As Hertha Theede, she was born Oct. 8, 1912, in
Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Her family emigrated to the United
States circa 1924, settling in Hammond, Ind., and moving to South
Bend, Ind., in 1927.
On May 11, 1935, in South Bend, she married
John R. Forslund, who died Oct. 28, 1980. She is survived by a
son, John W., a daughter, Dolores Miller, both of South
Bend, and their spouses, Pat and John. She is also survived by a
sister, Frieda Slisz of South Bend; three grandsons, John
E. and Jerry of South Bend, and Jay of Mishawaka, Ind.; five
great-grandsons; and by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Forslund
was employed by the former Wilson Brothers clothing company and
was a homemaker. She was a member of Gloria Dei and the former
John Ericson Lodge, Loyal Order of Vikings.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 South Michigan Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building on Faith campaign of Gloria Dei Church or to the American Cancer Society.
