William M. Ford

William M. Ford was born on Jan. 11, 1909, in Pierre, South Dakota. In 1929 he moved to South Bend.

On Nov. 4, 1929, he married the former Betty Haley. She died on July 10, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Robert in 1989. He retired from the University of Notre Dame in 1974. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Markward of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; granddaughters, Cynthia Johnson of LaPorte, Ind. and Judy Palmer of Park City, Utah; grandsons, Steve Markward of Holland, Ohio and James Markward, of Nevada City, Calif.; great-granddaughters, Katie Johnson of LaPorte, Ind., Brittany Markward of Holland, Ohio and Elise Markward of Neveda City, Calif.; great-grandsons, Nick Johnson of LaPorte, Ryan Markward of Holland and Brigdon Markward of Nevada City, Calif.; and by a sister, Adeline Zimmerman of Nashville, Tenn.

He was a member of River Park Church of Christ and the former River Park Democratic Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to services in the funeral home on Saturday.
