Beatrice Marie "Bea" Forbush,
94, of the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend,
Ind., died at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 18th. She was born on
Feb. 25, 1904, in Benton Harbor, Mich., having lived here since
September 1964, coming from Washington, D.C. On April 30, 1922,
in Benton Harbor, as Beatrice M. Buckley, she married
Frank T. Johnston, who died on June 13, 1962.
On June 24, 1965, in South Bend, she married
Belden C. Forbush, who died on Jan. 13, 1976. She was also
preceded in death by a son, Donald R. Johnston, who died
on April 30, 1972. She is survived by a son, Orlow R. Johnston of
Weston, Fla.; and by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren
and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Forbush was a past
member of the Benton Harbor Moose Lodge and of the Bethany
Chapter 24, Order of the Eastern Star of Washington, D.C. She was
a linotype operator for the News Palladium newspaper in Benton
Harbor from 1920 to 1947, and then was a patents proofreader for
the U.S. Government Printing Office, Patents Department,
Washington, D.C., from Aug. 28, 1948, until her retirement on
Oct. 18, 1963.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
on Wednesday, July 22, in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S.
Ironwood, with Rev. Don Neely officiating. Cremation will take
place and the cremains will be interred in St. Joseph Valley
Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
