Mrs. David Orson Fonda, of 337 Edgewater drive, a
descendant of two of Mishawaka's early pioneers, died at 10 a.m.
Thursday in a nursing home in Dowagiac, Mich., where she had been
living.
Mrs. Fonda was born March 7, 1874, in Mishawaka, and had spent most of her life here.
She was graduated from the Mishawaka High
school in 1889 and as Miss Edith Belle Judkins she was
married Oct. 12, 1892, in the First Presbyterian church here to
Mr. Fonda. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H.
Judkins.
Mr. and Mrs. Fonda moved to Leavenworth, Kan., in 1897 where he
was connected with the Great Western Manufacturing company.
He died Dec. 27, 1898 at which time Mrs.
Fonda returned to Mishawaka and later moved to Los Angeles,
Calif., where she lived until 1929 when she returned here to
reside with her sister. Surviving are one brother, Warren O.
Judkins, of South Bend, and two sisters, Mrs. Frederick G. Eberhart
and Miss Alice L. Judkins, both of Mishawaka.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday in the
residence. Glenn D. Babcock, of the First Church of Christ,
Scientist, will conduct the service. Burial will be in Old Oak
cemetery, Coldwater, Mich.

Services for Mrs. David Orson Fonda, of 337 Edgewater

residence. Glenn D. Babcock, of the First Church of Christ,
Scientist, conducted the service.
Burial was in the Old Oak Grove cemetery, Coldwater, Mich. Pallbearers were Charles W. Bingham, Charles A. Jennings, Carlton H. Miller, M. C. Farrar, Karl D. Warner and Raymond Winey.
