SOUTH BEND - Helen E. Floran, 84, of Indiana 23, died at 11:50 p.m. Friday in Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa, Ohio, after an illness. Mrs. Floran retired in 1974 from South Bend Community School Corp. after 35 years in food service.

She was born March 17, 1911, in Syracuse. In 1938, in South Bend, as Helen E. Disher, she married Arthur E. Floran. He died Oct. 8, 1981. She is survived by a daughter, Pat Robinson of Bluffton, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Mabel A. Fenske of South Bend; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Olive Brown of Santa Maria, Calif. A stepson, James A., died in 1984. She was a member of Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home and an hour before services Tuesday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the church or any charity.
