Dr. Norman Fizdale
Oct. 14, 1908 - June 6, 2000
Dr. Norman Fizdale, 91, of South
Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday, June 6, in St. Paul's
Retirement Community.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1908, in Chicago,
Ill., to the Late Morris and Fannie (Dashoff) Fish. On April 5,
1936, in Gary, Ind., he married Jeanette Sheer, who preceded him
in death in 1987. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles
in 1995.
Dr. Fizdale graduated from Wakarusa
High School and Northwestern. He then went on to graduate from
the Northern Illinois School of Optometry. He worked for over 25
years for the U.S. Steel mills in Gary as a metallurgist, and for
over 20 years as an optometrist in South Bend. He was a member of
Temple Beth-El and B'nai-B'rith. Dr. Fizdale also volunteered for
the Red Cross for many years.
He is survived by his daughter,
Myrna (Gary) Marcus of South Bend; four grandchildren, Brad
(Margaret) Marcus of Ashburn, Va., Jeff Marcus of South Bend, Amy
Fizdale of Mishawaka, Ind., and Greg Fizdale of South Bend; and
by five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m.
today, July 9, in the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery in Mishawaka.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made
to the Charles Fizdale Faculty Memorial Fund at Temple Beth-El.
The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is
handling arrangements.
