Charles Clare Fitzmaurice, 86, of Indiana Avenue, passed away after a lengthy illness at 9:42 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14, in Hospice House, South Bend, Ind.
Mr. Fitzmaurice was born on Dec. 30, 1912, in Haleybury, Ontario, Canada, to the late John Francis and Mary Ellen (McLinden) Fitzmaurice.
On Feb. 18, 1939, in the Holy Name Cathedral, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada, Charles married the former Georgina Mary Sherry, who survives. They moved to the South Bend area 52 years ago from Kirkland Lake.
He is also survived by two daughters, Donna Marie (Robert) Klowetter and Sherry Ann (Tom) Cripe, both of South Bend; a son, Michael James (Norma) Fitzmaurice of South Bend; and by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Fitzmaurice retired in 1975 from Curtis Products. He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, in St. Matthew Cathedral, with Fr. Dermot Gahan officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
