SOUTH BEND , IN Mr. Vincent
Fitzgerald, 91, of Nash Street, passed away at 6:23 a.m. Sunday,
Sept. 16, in Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, Ind.,
following a long fight with emphysema. Vincent was born on Feb.
7, 1910, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Frank and Mary (Haines)
DePasquale, and had lived in South Bend most of his life.
He married Martha Mary DeVos, who
preceded him in death in 1979. He worked at Studebaker's until
they closed and retired from Avanti Motors. Mr. Fitzgerald loved
to fish, use his computer, do word search puzzles, paint by
numbers, and sit on the front porch and watch what was going on
in the neighborhood. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Berry
of Los Angeles, Calif., and Maria Yeoward of South Bend; a
stepdaughter, Joan Albert of Los Angeles; a stepson,
Russell Schermerhorn of New York City, N.Y.; 10
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Frank
DePasquale Jr. of South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 20, in the McGann Funeral Homes, University Area
Chapel , 2313 E. Edison Road, near Ironwood, where friends may
call from 4 to 5 p.m. Cremation will follow. Donations may be
made in Vincent's memory to the American Lung Association.
