SOUTH BEND - Mildred L. Fisher, 86, of South Bend, passed away at
Memorial Hospital in South Bend at 6 a.m. May 11, 2010, after a
sudden illness. Mrs. Fisher was born Dec. 2, 1923, in South Bend,
and had resided in the Michiana area her lifetime. On Aug. 31,
1946, she married Raymond B. Fisher, who preceded her in death on
Dec. 20, 2004. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca H. Eastman
of Maine, and by a son, Thomas G. Fisher of South Bend. She was a
loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Jayme (Ryan) Hampton,
Shaun (Sarah) Fisher, Justin Fisher, Adam Somers, Jennifer
Somers, Stuart Sommers, Hannah Cole and Madyson Eastman. Mildred
was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Cassie Fisher on
July 27, 2005; and by her sisters, Aurelis Drzewiecki, Gertrude
Fisher, Aquina Van Holesbeke, Elfrieda Hock and Molly Errings.
Mrs. Fisher enjoyed cooking, reading and bowling, as well as
spending time with her loving family. Visitation will take place
at Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home,
located at West Ireland Road/SR #23, South Bend, from 4-8 p.m.
today, May 13. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday,
May 14, in the Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, with
Pastor Pat Somers officiating. Burial to follow at St. Joseph
Cemetery. Friends may call in the church one hour prior to
services on Friday. The family request that all memorial
contributions be made to Evangel Heights United Methodist Church,
114 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46615. The HANLEY &
SONS "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled
arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and
heartfelt prayers to the Fisher family.
