OSCEOLA - Joan G. Firestone, 77, of Osceola, passed away
at 1:15 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008, in Golden Living Center,
Mishawaka, surrounded by family. Joan was born on October 8,
1930, in Mishawaka, to the late Lyle and Velma (Morningstar)
Bowman. On August 26, 1950, she married Eugene Firestone.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Eugene of Osceola, and a
daughter, Pamela (Ron) Scarberry of Mishawaka. She is also
survived by six grandchildren, Erick (Sarah) Holmes, Jenea
Skeeters, Elizabeth (Garner) Wrisley, Adam
(Kristin) Stickel, Ron (Michelle) Scarberry Jr. and Autumn
(Matt) Cameron; and four great-grandchildren, Madalyn
Cameron, Elijah Cameron, Kendall Stickel and Alivea Cameron. Joan
has been an area lifetime resident, graduating from Mishawaka
High School. She was an owner/operator of the former Bowman
Automotive Parts where she was also the bookkeeper. She was a
member of the South Bend Elks Lodge #235, and will be remembered
for her love of golf and her collection of Pewter Statues.
A private family service will take place. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
