Rev. Charles Finner CSC, India missionary of the Congregation
of the Holy Cross, who died at 8 oclock Friday morning in
the community infirmary at Notre Dame, will be buried Monday
morning in the Community Cemetery, after requiem mass in Sacred
Heart Church.
Father Finner, who returned from missionary work among the
Bengalese in 1932 after 14 years spent converting the natives of
India, was in ill health for two years owing to privations
associated with his calling. He was 58 years old.
Father Finner was first a home missionary
and also was assistant and pastor of St. Joseph Church here and
pastor of a parish in Portland, Ore. Born in Almonte, Canada,
Oct. 17, 1877, he joined the congregation and was ordained June
26, 1908. His silver sacredotal jubilee took place in 1933.
