Jan. 20, 1922 - Jan. 8, 2009MISHAWAKA - William W. Fields, 86, of Mishawaka, died on Thursday, January 8, 2009. Bill was born in Rochester, Indiana, on January 20, 1922, to William and Ethel (Clingenpeel) Fields. He married Janice Loutzenhiser in South Bend on April 2, 1944. Janice died on November 5, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Bill is survived by a daughter, Judith Arlene (Bill) Nelson of Campbell, CA; two sons, Scott W. Fields of Mishawaka and Dennis J. (Paula) Fields of Niles; six granddaughters and 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Loraine Foust of South Bend. Bill served with the Navy during World War II and was a life member of VFW Post 1167. He was employed as a refrigeration engineer at Miles Laboratory, retiring in 1988. Friends are invited to spend time with the family on Tuesday, January 13, from 3-7pm in the Bubb Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Ervin Mize officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Northern Indiana Food Bank.
