Ludwig S. Fickenscher, aged 88, of 204 East Donald street,
died suddenly at 5:30 a.m. today in the home of his
sister-in-law, Mrs. H.H. Fickenscher, in Clay township. He
suffered a heart attack. He was a teacher in the St. Joseph
county schools for 22 years and had been retired some years. He
was formerly secretary and treasurer of the River Park Land &
Improvement company. He was born in Clay township Nov. 27, 1853,
and lived all his life in this county. He was married in 1891 to
Elizabeth Kunsman, who died in 1895. In 1900 he married Rose
Brown, who died in 1937. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ross J.
Martin, of South Bend, and a son, George, known here as Duke
LeBrun, of South Bend. He leaves also four grandchildren, Dolores
and Arlene Martin, of South Bend; Lois LeBrun, of South Bend, and
Eleanor LeBrun, of Cincinnati, O. He was a member of First
Christian church anf its Forum club. Friends will be received in
the Forest G. Hay funeral home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the
funeral there at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Frank E. Davison, pastor of
the First Christian church, will officiate. Burial will be in St.
Joseph Valley Memorial park.
