Frank S. Ferris Sr. (March 17, 1921 - Jan. 8, 2001)

Frank S. Ferris Sr., 79, of Locust Road, South Bend, Ind., died on Monday, Jan. 8, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.

He was born in South Bend on March 17, 1921, to the late George and Mattie (Simpson) Ferris. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Replogle, Verlie McKelvey, Max Edison, Dona Campbell and Hortense Ferris; brothers, Ed Ferris, Jim Ferris, Ervin Ferris and Harold Ferris; a granddaughter, Rhonda Rutkowski; a son-in-law, Albert Borsch Sr.; and by a daughter-in-law, Carol Ferris.

On April 13, 1941, in Napoleon, Ohio, he married the former Irene Dawson, who survives. He is also survived by their daughters, Jean (Dick) Kinyon, Joan Borsch and Barbara (Terry) Tharp, all of South Bend; two sons, Frank Jr. "Butch" (Carolyn) Ferris and Ron (Rose) Ferris, both of South Bend; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren; and by three brothers, Henry Ferris and Walter Ferris, both of South Bend, and Willis Ferris of Mishawaka, Ind.

Mr. Ferris retired in 1986 from Stanley Enterprise in South Bend.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 10, in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, located at Ironwood and Jefferson.

Mr. Ferris's funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
