Frank J. Fenske, 91, of South Bend,
Ind., passed away at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, in the Ironwood
Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. He was born Sept.
10, 1913, in Bay City, Mich., as the son of Frank and Martha (Jaskiewicz)
Fenske, and had lived in South Bend since 1924, coming from Bay
City.
On Nov. 6, 1937, in South Bend, he married
Mabel Lura Floran. He is survived by his loving wife,
Mabel of 67 years. Also surviving are four daughters, Sandra K.
Newton of Granger, Ind., Sharyl (Rick) Holm of North
Liberty, Ind., Bonnie (Thomas) Lehman of South Bend and
Vicki (David) Treat of Algonquin, Ill. He is also survived
by eight grandchildren, Jeff (Janice) Newton, Kim (Wes)
Newton Evard, Christi Holm, Cindi (Will) Holm Pederson,
Michelle (Chris) Holm Feller, Kelly Holm, Alex and Kati
Lehman; and four great- grandchildren, Jordon and Jessica Newton,
and Reilly and Nolan Evard. Frank was preceded in death by
his parents, a sister, Marie Wroblewski, and by a
son-in-law, Jack Newton in 1983.
He was a 1933 graduate of Central High
School, and served as a military police officer in England and
France in the U.S. Army's 787th Battalion during the Second World
War. Frank was a skilled craftsman and member of Carpenters Union
Local 413, running his own construction firm for many years. He
was a member and past commander of V.F.W. Post 1167 and was a
charter member and past president of Greene Township Lions Club.
He was an active member of Christian Center Cathedral of Praise
in South Bend for many years, using his skills in the
construction of the church building and parsonage.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov.
4, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan
St., South Bend. Rev. Richard Siri will officiate. Graveside
services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The
family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and
one hour prior to services Thursday in the Palmer Funeral
Home-Guisinger Chapel.
