SOUTH BEND - Betty Jane Fawley, 80, residing in South
Bend, passed away at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, in her
home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born
November 3, 1927, in South Bend, to John and Elizabeth (Cieslik)
Cytia, and had remained a lifelong resident. Mrs. Fawley
retired in 1989 from Memorial Hospital of South Bend where she
worked as a benefits clerk for more than 14 years. She was a
member of Southlawn United Methodist Church. She enjoyed
crocheting and gardening her flowers. She is survived by two
daughters, Debbie (Calvin) Schafer of Lakeville and Vickie
Roush of South Bend; a son, Terry Lee Fawley of South
Bend; and five grandchildren, Lisa (Christian) Eickenberry
of South Bend, Sharon Schafer and Ryan Schafer, both of
Lakeville, Jacob Fawley and Amanda Fawley, both of Mishawaka; and
a great-grandson, Landon Eickenberry. Betty Jane is also survived
by a very special cousin, Toby (Louis) Szekendy of South
Bend.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July
15, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan
Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at
Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to
8:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, in the funeral home. Contributions in
