Mildred A. Farkas (Dec. 14, 1921 -- Oct. 1, 2006 )

Mildred A. Farkas, 84, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, October 1, 2006, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Born December 14, 1921, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to the late William and Anna McFadden, she had lived in this area most of her life. Mildred was especially proud of serving her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

She married Steve Farkas Jr. on July 3, 1948. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1977, along with a stepson, Stephen Larry Farkas, who died May 13, 1985.

Surviving are a daughter, Anna M. (Mary Ellen) and Jeff Stuber of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Michael J. Stuber of Osceola, IN, and Jeanna M. and Kevin Pugh of Granger, IN; along with several other step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the McGann Hay Forest G. Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN, where friends may call two hours prior to the services (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana.

The family would like to thank everyone from Home Instead Senior Care and Millie's main caregiver, Sandy, for their loving care, and the staff of 6 North at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center for making Millie's final days comfortable and peaceful.
