Brother Alban
Faherty CSC, 87, former treasurer and purchasing agent of the
University of Notre Dame, died at 11:30 am. in the Holy Cross
Brothers Community Infirmary at Notre Dame. He was born in Red
Bud, Ill. Jan. 25, 1870. He made his novitiate in March 1906 and
made his final profession of vows in March 1909. His posts
included the Student Affairs Office at Notre Dame; the Holy Cross
Brothers Community in Watertown, Wis.; and Holy Cross College in
Washington DC. From 1914 to 1926 he was treasurer at Notre Dame,
and from 1926 to 1934 he served as purchasing agent. Since 1950
he lived in the Holy Cross Infirmary.
The wake will begin
at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Corby Hall Chapel at Notre Dame. The
Office of the Dead will be in Sacred Heart Church on the Notre
Dame campus at 5 p.m. Monday. A requiem mass will be celebrated
in Sacred Heart Church at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday will burial in the
Community Cemetery on the campus.
