Obituary for Floyd E. Evans:
FLOYD E. EVANS, 31, DIES IN WEST
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Evans 622 North Frances street, received word
late Saturday of the death during the day of their son, Floyd E.
Evans, aged 31, in Hesperia, Calif. Mrs. Evans is city
policewoman. Mr. Evans was born in South Bend, received his
education in the city schools and was formerly a member of the
Lowell Heights Methodist Episcopal church on North Notre Dame
avenue before going to California three and a half years ago. He
is also survived by his widow, Mrs. Vesta Evans and a daughter,
Katherine, of Hesperia; and a brother, Albert Evans Jr. and a
sister, Mrs. Edna Kuntz, both of South Bend. He is said to have
contracted a tubercular throat ailment while serving with the
United States Army in the Phillippines. The condition became
aggravated several years ago, and he moved to California, where
it was thought he was making a satisfactory recovery. In fact his
mother who recently visited him and his family in their
California home, brought back reports that his physicians were
greatly encouraged by his progress. His sudden death, therefore
came as a severe shock to his relatives and friends in South
Bend. Source: South Bend Tribune, June 30, 1935, Section 4, Page
