SOUTH BEND - Elden E. Evans, 53, of Huffman Drive, died at 7:28 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Evans was a salesman for Franklin Life Insurance Co. He was born Oct. 18, 1940, in Goshen and lived in South Bend for two years, coming from Denver.

On May 22, 1970, in Winamac, he married Mary Ann Martin. She survives with a daughter, Vicki Owen of Fort Wayne; three sons, Gregory A. of Goshen, Mark A. of Kailua, Hawaii, and Gregg A. of Sicily, Italy; four grandchildren; a sister, Pat Koch of Middlebury; and a brother, Dennis of Topsfield, Mass. A son, Michael E., died in 1990.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Cremation will take place. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
