31, 1926 - Mar. 21, 2010SOUTH BEND - Catherine L. Evans, 84, of South Bend, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Sunday at Center for Hospice, Elkhart. Born January 31, 1926, in Mt. Pleasant, MI, she was the daughter of Samuel C. and Linda C. (Huber) Forney. On March 5, 1955, in South Bend, she married Elmer J. (Pinky) Evans, who died on November 13, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a son Michael J. Evans; sisters Elva B. Nothstine, Ruth C. Stork, Belva E. Moore, Jeanette M. Smith, and Evelyn M. Bozer; brothers Jay C. Forney and Robert L. Forney; and a great-granddaughter Pariss Borum. She is survived by three sons, Phillip R. (Pat) Evans Sr. of Pulaski, TN, Bob L. (Rosanne) Evans of South Bend, IN and Donald R. (Terry) Evans of Lawton, MI; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Florest (Flo) E. Arduser of Tulsa, OK and Burness (Bunny) L. Nethers of Mt. Pleasant, MI. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Catherine was a member of Hilltop Lutheran Church, South Bend. She retired in 1987 from Transpo Co. , where she worked as a payroll clerk. She attended Ivy Tech for Interior Design. She enjoyed gardening, watching television, and spending time talking with family and friends.
