Sabina (Mary) Ethel Yeider Erickson,
98,went home to heaven to join her husband and sons, and parents
and other loved ones at 11:45 a.m. January 7, 2006, from her
residence on East Jefferson Blvd. in Mishawaka after dying in her
home of natural causes. Sabina was born June 18, 1907, in Devils
Lake, North Dakota. In 1924, Sabina married Rudolph Erickson
(former owner and operator of Rudy's Garage/Mishawaka from 1919
to 1967). Rudolph preceded Sabina in death in January, 1994, at
95 years of age. Also preceding her in death were Sabina's
parents, Ethel Mae Quick Yeider and Charles Yeider; two
sons, Donald Erickson and Victor Erickson; and two sons- in-law,
Robert Takace and Harvey Zehrung, all of Mishawaka; and
three brothers, Roy Yeider of California/Arizona, Kenneth of
California/Seattle, Wash., and Don of California, also preceded
Sabina in death.
Sabina is survived by two sisters, Lois Cowen
of South Bend and Viola Hess of California; (and nine
nieces and four nephews); three daughters, Gloria Takace,
Louise Zehrung and Marjorie (Gerald) Hogue of Mishawaka;
two daughters-in-law, Rachael Erickson and Virginia Erickson of
Mishawaka/Osceola; 14 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren;
and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Sabina was employed at Studebakers in South
Bend from 1943 to 1963, and one of her jobs was sewing the seats
for "Weasels." Sabina loved to cook, sew, and knit and
made her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren many
lovely things over the years. Sabina worked for other companies
as well (the Sunshine Cleaners and Hogue Enterprises, to name a
few). Sabina was a very generous lady and never let her age or
physical ability stand in the way of helping others. Sabina had
been a member of St. Mark's Missionary Church in Mishawaka since
1962 and willingly helped in the building project from the onset,
as well as the cradle roll and the nursery. Sabina loved the Lord
Jesus Christ with all of her heart and desired to serve and
please him always. She was a prayer warrior and prayed for all of
her family daily; leaving a beautiful Christian heritage. Sabina
was happiest when surrounded by her family. She loved her roses
and azaleas too.
Please join the family at the 11 a.m.
service on Tuesday in Chapel Hill Funeral Home on U.S. 20 in
Osceola, IN. A luncheon will follow at the church.
