Mary Alice Erhardt, age 76, of Birch
Lake Shore Drive, Vandalia, Mich., died October 4 at her home.
She was born February 20, 1924, in South Bend, IN, the daughter
of Vern G. and Gladys V. (Campbell) Scott Sr. She
graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1942.
On May 29, 1943, she married Donald F.
Erhardt in South Bend. He preceded her in death August 20, 1998.
Mary and Don lived in South Bend for many years. In 1952 they
purchased a cottage at Birch Lake and moved permanently in 1973.
Mary worked for Pence, Dickens and Heater in South Bend for
several years, and had worked at Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka
in her early years. She enjoyed reading and dining out, and loved
her dogs. Mary was active in the activities at Birch Lake and
visited the Birch Lake Yacht Club. Surviving are her son, Donald
F. Erhardt, New Carlisle, Ind.; daughters, Cheryl and Tom Wilcox,
The Colony, TX, and Lynne Halstead, Frisco, TX; son, John
Erhardt, Vandalia; 3 grandchildren, Tracy Wilcox, Vandalia,
Kimberly S. and Randy Lee, The Colony, TX, Ryan and Kim
Wilcox, Little Elm, TX; her brother, Vern G. and Marian Scott,
Jr., South Bend; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband, and 2 grandsons, Daniel and Benjamin Halstead.
Relatives and friends will be received
Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (Michigan time) at the Eley Funeral
Home in Constantine, where services will be held at 11 a.m.
(Michigan time) Monday. Reverend Dr. Ernest E. Geist, First
Congregational Church, Michigan City, will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m.
(Michigan time) Monday at the Saint Joseph Memorial Park in South
Bend. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Newberg
Ambulance Service in Jones. Envelopes are available at the
funeral home.
