Paul V. Engle, Sr., 84, of Mayflower
Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, June
26th, in his residence. Mr. Engle was born on Nov. 19, 1917, in
South Bend, and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area. On
March 17, 1945, in Mishawaka, Ind., he married the former
Virginia R. Scheffler, who survives. Mr. Engle is also
survived by two daughters and a son, Sandra K. (Duane) Bourdon
of South Bend and Nancy J. (David) Cass of South Bend, and
Paul V. (Mary) Engle of Bloomington, Ind.; and by five loving
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom he loved and
cherished. Paul was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda M. Timm;
and by a brother, John W. Engle. Mr. Engle retired in 1979 from
the Bendix Corporation in South Bend as a tool and die maker. He
was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a member of the
German Township Lions Club, the German Township Volunteer Fire
Department, and was a member of UAW Local 9.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, June 29th, in Hanley & Sons "Southwest
Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana
23 South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday,
June 30th, in the funeral home. Burial will take place at
Highland Cemetery. The family requests that all memorial
contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the
German Township Lions Club. The HANLEY & SONS" Southwest
Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and
extend deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Engle
family.
