Chester T. Emmons
March 23, 1921 - Jan. 22, 1963

 

SOUTH BEND - Chester T. "Red" Emmons, 71, of 120 E. Jennings St., died at  11:05 p.m. Friday in Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal. Mr. Emmons retried in 1973  as a crane operator from Clingenpeel Excavation Co. He was born March 23, 1921, in Goddard, Ky, and lived in South Bend for 50 years, coming from Kentucky. On Dec. 21, 1944, in Walkerton, he married Bernelle Harris. She survives with a daughter, Phyllis M. Emmons of South Bend; three sisters, Ruth Barnes of Ohio, Thelma Pendry of Tennessee, and Edna Race of Kentucky; and four brothers, Estell, Drew and Charles, all of Kentucky, and Leonard of Florida. He was a veteran of World War II and member of American Legion Post 189, Walkerton; AmVets, Lafayette, Ind., and Audie Murphy 3rd Division in Texas.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walkerton Cemetery, with military services conducted by American Legion Post 189. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc.
