Alvin C. Emery, 89, of Byrkit Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 15, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawa-ka.
Alvin was born on July 18, 1910, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Myrtie and Frank Emery.
In 1930 Alvin married Vernice Snyder in Mishawaka. She died in 1935. Then on June 25, 1936, Alvin married Catherine E. Fashbaugh in Elkhart, Ind. She also preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 1994.
Alvin is survived by three daughters, Donna M. (Robert) Borsodi of Mishawaka, Patricia J. (Gene) Lewis of Mishawaka and Rosemary C. (Michael) Carton of Fairview Heights, Ill.; a son, David A. (Sharon) Emery of Granger, Ind.; and by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Alvin worked for Studebaker's for 22 years, then retired from A.M. General in 1976 after eleven years of service as an inspector. Alvin was a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Mishawaka, Mishawaka Eagles Lodge 2083, and was a drummer in the local bands from 1916 to 1995.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. today in the Bubb Chapel.
There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Father Elden Miller officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
