Sister M. Hermengild CSC, 67, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday in Saint Mary’s Convent after an extended illness. She taught at T. Mary’s School, 1924-1945; at St. Joseph School, 1951-1955; at Holy Cross School, 1958-1960, and schools in Elkhart, Logansport and East Chicago during the remainder of her career. She was born Ann Margaret Elbert on Dec. 11, 1902 in Aschaffenburg, Germany and came to the United States in 1922. That same year she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and in 1928 she made her final profession of vows. She is survived by two sisters, both in Germany, and four cousins who are all Sisters of the Holy Cross.

The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in St. Mary’s Convent where friends may call until the funeral at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Church of Loretto. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
