SOUTH BEND - Irene E. Edmonson, 81,
of South 36th Street, died at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's
Medical Center. Mrs. Edmonson was employed by Smith's Cafeteria
for more than 20 years. She was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Brazil,
Ind., and lived in South Bend for 53 years.
On Dec. 19, 1933, in Terre Haute, Ind., as
Irene Weese, she married Clifford J. Edmonson. He died
Dec. 31, 1988. She is survived by seven daughters, Carol Kollars
of Mishawaka, Janice Ray of Cary, Ill., Janet Vivens
of Holiday, Tenn., Vera Molina and Marilyn Jenner,
both of South Bend, Sandra Lehn of McHenry, Ill., and Anna
Nusbaum of Osceola; three sons, Robert of Mishawaka,
Frederick of Hudson, Mich., and Charles of South Bend; 39
grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in
Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Burial will be
in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. today in the funeral home.
