A skull fracture suffered Tuesday afternoon
in an automobile crash at Elder road and United States highway
No. 20, eight miles east of here, caused the death of Mrs. Sarah
Eberhart, aged 78, of rural route No. 2, Mishawaka. She died less
than three hours after the crash at St. Joseph hospital, South
Bend. Six persons were injured.
Death once again rode the highway Tuesday afternoon when Mrs.
Sarah Eberhart, aged 78, rural route No. 2, Mishawaka, was
fatally injured and six other persons were hurt in a
two-automobile crash at U.S. highway No. 20 and Elder road, eight
miles east of South Bend.
Mrs. Eberhart, born in Elkhart, Ind., Oct. 6, 1859, was a
lifetime resident of this community. She was married as Miss
Sarah Bodle to Claud Stimeling 59 years ago. He
died in 1908. She became the wife of James Eberhart 24 years ago.
He died three years after their marriage.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. B.C. Delano, Fulton,
N.Y.; Mrs. J. S. Shively, Camas, Wash.; and Mrs. B. W. Weiss,
Mishawaka; one stepson, William Eberhart, rural route No. 2,
Mishawaka; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Wallace Ort, rural route
No. 2, Mishawaka; one brother, John Bodle, Mishawaka; eight
grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Eberhart was a member of Willow Creek Methodist Episcopal
church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Eberhart will be held in Willow Creek
Methodist Episcopal church, east of Mishawaka on Jefferson road
at 3 p.m. on Saturday with Rev. George W. Brunner, pastor of the
Osceola Methodist Episcopal church, Osceola, this county,
officiating.
Friends will be received in the home of a daughter, Mrs. B. W.
Weiss, 301 West Battell street, from Friday afternoon until
Saturday noon and then in Willow Creek church from 2 o'clock
until the funeral. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
