Sad Death of Mrs. George Eberhart
Abbie E., the young wife of George Eberhart, died at their
Osceola home Sunday morning from the effects of childbirth. An
infant was born dead on Saturday and the mother lived only a few
hours after. She was twenty-two years of age, and was the last
remaining member of the family of Henry Plumb, of Osceola.
The deceased was married to George Eberhart,
of this city, June 4, 1891, and the young husband, thus so sadly
bereft, has the profound sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the M.
E. church, Rev. Martin officiating. The funeral was the largest
ever held in Osceola, the deceased being a general favorite.
The Elkhart Truth says: The funeral of Mrs. Abbie E. Eberhart, at
Osceola, was one of the most largely attended and most impressive
that has taken place in that village for years. The deceased was
a general favorite with the whole community and strong, gray
headed men mingled their tears with the younger, but no less
loving friends of the lady. She was the last of her family, her
father and mother having preceded her to the unknown borne.
Mother and child were buried in the same casket. The babe was
placed in its mother's arms and her head was inclined as if
looking at the little innocent on her bosom.
