GRANGER - Nancy (Loucks) Eastman, 73, died on June 20,
2008, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born on
November 11, 1934, in Lafayette, IN. From 1936 until 1958 she
lived in Indianapolis.
In that year, on February 15, she married
James Middleton Eastman, who died June 27, 1992. She was also
preceded in death by their beloved son, Andrew, on May 19, 2005,
and their Westie, Bobbie, on October 18, 1993. She is
survived by her daughter, Cynthia Kilgore (Rick) of Granger;
sons, Jeffrey, Cecil Keefer (Lynn Owsianowski) of
South Bend and James (Fred Deneke) of Sacramento, CA;
granddaughters, Elspeth and Madeline Eastman; a sister, Cynthia
Loucks of Prescott, AZ; and brothers, Michael (Joan) Loucks of
Daytona Beach, FL, and Barner David (Betty) Loucks of Manitou
Springs, CO. Also surviving are beloved friends, some of whom are
chosen family. Nancy had a towering intellect, a vast knowledge
of history, and a love of politics. She was a firm believer in
civil rights and standing up to injustice. She esteemed honor,
grace, beauty and "laughter holding both its sides."
A remembrance ceremony where friends are
invited to speak will be held at 7 p.m. at the Welsheimer Family
Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, where friends may call
from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Contributions may be made
to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., Logan
Center, or to the Frantz L. Dantzler Friends for Life Fund, Inc.,
